The underlying fundamentals behind sports cards continue to decline across fractional markets. The asset class remains positive for 2021, but its downward trend indicates it may not stay that way for long.

All stats come from assets trading on secondary markets at Otis, Collectable, and Rally

The picture resolves a bit further when you dissect the underlying components into high-end, mid-tier, and low-end cards.

As usual, the blue chip cards are holding up better than mid-tier and lower end.

Last Week

Fractional secondary markets

Some positivity from third-tier sports like wrestling and boxing, but the bulk of assets — the first-tier sports — were flat to down last week.

All stats come from assets trading on the secondary markets at Otis, Collectable, and Rally

Auctions

As mentioned last week, both Heritage and PWCC finished up major auctions over the weekend. We tracked 28 of the key lots — mostly blue chip assets with representation on one or more of the various fractional platforms.

Overall, the lots ended up an average of 8.8% below the assets’ current market cap on those fractional platforms and 5.6% below our inferred values.
