Comic Books Insider

Welcome to Comics Insider.

We use Moneyball tactics to discover undervalued, mispriced, and hidden gems in Fractional Investing.

The format for these updates is evolving over the next couple of weeks, so please do give feedback.

Comics were broadly up last week with Amazing Spiderman #129 9.8, Avengers #1 9.4, and Tomb of Dracula #10 9.8 up over 20%. Just one decline with Special Marvel Edition #15 CGC 9.8 dropping 8%

All stats come from assets trading on the secondary markets at Otis, Collectable, and Rally

Secondary markets

This is where we’ll highlight assets trading this week or next that may be of interest.

Biggest opportunity is Fantastic Four #5 9.2, which trades on Rally. There have been no recent 9.2 sales, but underlying grades have appreciated significantly.

Fantastic Four #5 9.2

  • Upside: 152%
  • Platform: Rally
  • Date: 10/19

At Auction

It’s a quiet week at auction for comics, though there are a couple notable issues to keep an eye on:

Notable

The new Superman will be bisexual. LBGTQ superheroes have been quite rare historically, and this is a pretty big deal. It’s a good opportunity to pick up a few issues at retail price ($3 to $4), get them graded, and either flip them or hold on as a long-term investment. There are three cover variants, so either pick a favourite or go for the set. Shop for Superman Son of Kal-El #5.
